OCR description
Methodist Healthcare - Memphis Hospitals, the covered entity (CE), reported that an individual fraudulently obtained employment as a nurse and accessed the protected health information (PHI) of 1,658 individuals. The PHI involved included clinical and demographic information. The CE notified HHS, the affected individuals, and the media about the breach. In its mitigation efforts, the CE also implemented additional administrative, technical, and security safeguards to better protect PHI.
