OCR description
The business associate (BA), Public Partnerships, LLC, reported that one of its former sub-contractors, AHS Eldercare, attempted to disclose the BA’s protected health information (PHI) without approval or authorization by attempting to sell the information to another sub-contractor. According to the breach report, the breach affected approximately 12,018 individuals. The PHI involved dates of birth, and other identifiers. The BA notified HHS, the media, and the affected individuals. OCR provided technical assistance to the BA regarding the HIPAA Rules and received evidence substantiating the BA’s notifications.
