OCR description
The covered entity (CE), Omaha Construction Industry Health and Welfare Plan, reported that its business associate (BA) suffered a theft of an unencrypted laptop computer that contained the electronic protected health information (ePHI) of 800 individuals. The CE notified HHS, affected individuals, and the media. In their mitigation efforts, both the CE and the BA implemented additional administrative, technical, and security safeguards to better protect ePHI.
