OCR description
The covered entity (CE), GI Care for Kids Endoscopy Center, reported that it was the victim of a ransomware attack that affected the electronic protected health information (ePHI) of 1,923 individuals. The ePHI involved included names, dates of birth, addresses, and clinical information. The CE notified HHS as well as affected individuals. In response to the breach, the CE implemented additional technical and security safeguards to better protect its sensitive data. OCR obtained assurances that the CE implemented the corrective actions noted.
