OCR description
Columbus Surgery Center, the covered entity (CE), experienced a ransomware attack that compromised the protected health information (PHI) of 7,221 individuals. The PHI involved in the breach included names, dates of birth, and treatment information. The CE notified HHS, affected individuals, the media, and provided substitute notice. In its mitigation efforts, the CE strengthened its administrative, technical, and security safeguards to better protect its sensitive data.
