OCR description
The covered entity (CE), Athens Heart Center, reported that it experienced a cybersecurity incident that compromised the protected health information (PHI) of 12,158 individuals. The PHI involved included names, diagnoses, health insurance information, medications prescribed, and other treatment information. The CE notified HHS, affected individuals, and the media. As a result of the incident, the CE implemented additional administrative, technical, and security safeguards to better protect its PHI. OCR provided technical assistance regarding the HIPAA Rules.
