The covered entity (CE), Pediatric Orthopedic Specialties dba ActivYouth Orthopaedics, reported that it was the victim of a ransomware attack that affected the electronic protected health information (ePHI) of 24,176 individuals. The ePHI involved included names, addresses, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, claims information, and medical billing information. The CE notified HHS, affected individuals, and the media. In response to the breach, the CE strengthened its technical and security safeguards and retrained it staff.
