OCR description
The covered entity (CE), Nebraska Medicine, reported that an employee impermissibly accessed the electronic medical records of 1,149 individuals. The electronic protected health information (ePHI) involved included names, addresses, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, drivers’ license numbers, lab results, and other treatment information. The CE notified HHS, affected individuals, and the media. In its mitigation efforts, the CE sanctioned the employee and implemented additional administrative, technical, and security safeguards to better protect its PHI.
