Central Kansas Orthopedic Group, LLC

The covered entity (CE), Central Kansas Orthopedic Group, reported that it experienced a ransomware attack that compromised the protected health information (PHI) of 17,214 individuals. The PHI involved included names, addresses, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, claims information, diagnoses, lab results, medications, and other treatment information. The CE notified HHS, affected individuals, the media, and posted substitute notice on its website. In its mitigation efforts, the CE implemented additional administrative, technical, and security safeguards to better protect its sensitive data. All staff were retrained.
