Vision Care Specialists, P.C. a part of MyEyeDr. Optometry of Colorado, PC

The covered entity (CE), Vision Care Specialists, P.C., a part of MyEyeDr Optometry of Colorado, P.C., reported that it experienced a ransomware attack which affected the electronic protected health information (ePHI) of approximately 1,070 individuals. The ePHI involved included names, dates of birth, diagnoses, clinical information, and treatment information. The CE notified HHS, affected individuals, the media, and posted substitute notice on its website. In response to the breach, the CE implemented additional administrative and technical safeguards to better protect its sensitive data. OCR obtained assurances that the CE implemented the corrective actions noted.
