OCR description
The covered entity (CE), Prudential Insurance Company of America, reported that its business associate (BA) experienced a malware attack that affected the electronic protected health information (ePHI) of 1,945 individuals. The ePHI involved included names, mailing addresses, email addresses, Social Security numbers, and financial information. The CE notified HHS and affected individuals and provided complimentary credit monitoring services. In response to the breach, the BA implemented additional technical safeguards to better protect ePHI.
