OCR description
The covered entity (CE), University Health Systems of Eastern Carolina, Inc. dba Vidant Health, reported that its business associate (BA) experienced a ransomware attack affecting the electronic protected health information (ePHI) of 77,942 individuals. The ePHI involved included names, addresses, dates of birth, email addresses, health insurance information, and treatment information. The CE notified HHS, affected individuals, the media, and provided substitute notice.
