OCR description
Sky Lakes Medical Center, the covered entity (CE), reported that it experienced a ransomware attack that affected the electronic protected health information (ePHI) of 5,514 individuals. The ePHI involved included diagnostic images. The CE notified HHS, affected individuals, and the media. Upon discovery of the breach, the CE adopted new technical safeguards, revised its policies and procedures, and retrained its employees. During the investigation, OCR provided the CE with technical assistance.
