The Richards Group

The covered entity (CE), The Richards Group, reported that an employee was the victim of an email phishing attack that compromised the protected health information (PHI) of 15,429 individuals. The PHI involved included names, addresses, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, diagnoses, and health insurance and treatment information. The CE notified HHS, affected individuals, the media, and posted substitute notice on its website. In its mitigation efforts, the CE provided complimentary credit monitoring services and implemented additional administrative and technical safeguards to better protect its PHI. Staff were retrained on email security.
