Minimed Distribution Corp

The covered entity (CE), Minimed Distribution Corporation, reported that the estranged spouse of a workforce member temporarily had access to the workforce member’s work-related electronic devices that contained the electronic protected health information (ePHI) of approximately 1,658 individuals. The ePHI involved included names, addresses, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, and financial and health insurance information. The CE notified HHS, affected individuals, the media, and provided substitute notice. A phone number was provided for questions or concerns. Complimentary identity theft protection services were provided to affected individuals. In its mitigation efforts, the CE implemented additional administrative, technical, and security safeguards to better protect its ePHI. OCR provided technical assistance to the CE.
