OCR description
The covered entity (CE), Scripps Health, reported that it was the victim of a ransomware attack affecting the protected health information (PHI) of 1,267,639 individuals. The PHI involved included names, Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses, drivers’ license numbers, diagnoses, and other treatment information. The CE notified HHS, affected individuals, the media, and posted substitute notice on its website. In response to the breach, the CE implemented additional administrative and technical safeguards.
