OCR description
The covered entity (CE), UF Health Central Florida, reported that it experienced a ransomware attack that affected the electronic protected health information (ePHI) of approximately 700,934 patients. The ePHI involved included names, dates of birth, addresses, clinical and treatment information, and Social Security numbers. The CE notified HHS, affected individuals, the media, and provided substitute notice. In its mitigation efforts, the CE strengthened its administrative, technical, and security safeguards to better protect its ePHI.
