OCR description
The covered entity (CE), Anthem, reported that its business associate (BA) experienced a ransomware attack that affected the protected health information (PHI) of approximately 7,250 individuals. The PHI involved included names, addresses, dates of birth, drivers’ license numbers, Social Security numbers, lab results and medications prescribed. The CE notified HHS, affected individuals, and the media. In its mitigation efforts, the CE implemented additional administrative, technical, and security safeguards to better protect its PHI.
