OCR description
The covered entity (CE), Suncoast Skin Solutions, reported that it experienced a ransomware attack that compromised the protected health information (PHI) of 77,190 individuals. The PHI involved included names, diagnoses, Social Security numbers, lab results, and medications prescribed. The CE notified HHS, affected individuals, the media, and provided substitute notice. In its mitigation efforts, the CE implemented additional administrative, technical, and security safeguards to better protect its PHI. OCR provided the CE with technical assistance regarding the HIPAA Breach Notification Rule.
