OCR description
The covered entity (CE), Jackson County Hospital District, reported that it was the victim of a cyber-attack affecting the protected health information (PHI) of 96,253 individuals. The PHI involved included names, dates of birth, addresses, Social Security numbers, drivers’ license numbers, lab results, medications prescribed, diagnoses, and other treatment information. The CE notified HHS, affected individuals, and the media. In response to the breach, the CE implemented additional administrative, technical, and security safeguards to better protect its PHI.
