OCR description
The covered entity (CE), Aetna ACE, reported that its business associate (BA) experienced a cyber-attack affecting the protected health information (PHI) of 893 individuals. The PHI involved included names, dates of birth, addresses, claims information, diagnoses, lab results, medications, and other treatment information. The CE notified HHS, affected individuals, and the media. In response to the breach, the CE implemented additional technical safeguards, provided complimentary credit monitoring services, and retrained its employees.
