OCR description
Hudson Regional Hospital, the covered entity (CE), reported that its business associate (BA) experienced a ransomware attack that affected the protected health information (PHI) of 1,265 individuals. The PHI involved included names, addresses, Social Security numbers, telephone numbers, email addresses, dates of birth, gender, and treatment information. The CE notified HHS, affected individuals, the media, and provided substitute notice on its website. In its mitigation efforts, the CE implemented additional administrative, technical, and security safeguards to better protect its sensitive data. Staff were retrained.
