OCR description
The covered entity (CE), Compton & Broomhead Dental Center, reported that several employees were the victims of an email phishing scheme that affected the protected health information (PHI) of 1,307 individuals. The PHI involved included names, dates of birth, Social Security and drivers’ license numbers, diagnoses, and other treatment information. The CE notified HHS, affected individuals, and the media. In its mitigation efforts, the CE implemented additional administrative, technical, and security safeguards to better protect its PHI. In addition, the CE retrained its workforce members on the proper methods of identifying fraudulent email communications.
