OCR description
The covered entity (CE), Metropolitan Area EMS Authority dba Medstar Mobile Healthcare, reported that it experienced a ransomware incident that affected the protected health information (PHI) of 612,000 individuals. The PHI involved included names, addresses, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, and treatment information. The CE notified HHS, affected individuals, the media, and posted substitute notice on its website. In response to the breach, the CE implemented additional administrative, technical, and security safeguards to better protect its PHI.
