OCR description
The covered entity (CE), Midwest Orthopaedic Consultants, reported that it experienced a ransomware attack that compromised the protected health information (PHI) of 6,818 individuals. The PHI involved included names, addresses, Social Security and drivers’ license numbers, birthdates, diagnoses, medications, and health insurance and other treatment information. The CE notified HHS, affected individuals, and the media. In response to the breach, the CE improved its administrative and technical safeguards to better protect its PHI.
