OCR description
The covered entity (CE), Aetna ACE, reported that several employees were the subjects of an email phishing scheme that affected the protected health information (PHI) of 4,222 individuals. The PHI involved included names, medications, diagnoses, and health insurance and other treatment information. The CE notified HHS, affected individuals, and the media. In its mitigation efforts, the CE implemented additional technical, and security safeguards to better protect its PHI. Staff were retrained on email security precautions.
