OCR description
The covered entity (CE), Howard Memorial Hospital, reported that it experienced a cyber-attack that affected the protected health information (PHI) of approximately 53,688 individuals. The PHI involved included names, dates of birth, addresses, Social Security numbers, diagnoses, lab results, medications, and other treatment information. The CE notified HHS, affected individuals, and the media. In response to the breach, the CE strengthened its administrative and technical safeguards to better protect sensitive data.
