OCR description
The covered entity (CE), People Incorporated of Sequoyah County, reported that it experienced a ransomware incident that affected the protected health information (PHI) of 8,725 individuals. The PHI involved included names, addresses, Social Security numbers, financial information, and treatment information. The CE notified HHS, the affected individuals, the media, and posted substitute notice on its website. In response to the breach, the CE implemented additional administrative and technical safeguards to better protect sensitive data.
