OCR description
The business associate (BA), MedInform, Inc., reported that it experienced a ransomware attack that compromised the protected health information (PHI) of 14,453 individuals. The PHI involved included names, addresses, Social Security numbers, and financial and treatment information. The BA notified the covered entity, affected individuals and HHS, and provided substitute notice. The BA implemented additional administrative and technical safeguards to better protect PHI. OCR provided technical assistance regarding the HIPAA Rules.
