OCR description
CareNet Medical Group, the covered entity (CE), reported that it experienced a ransomware attack that affected the protected health information (PHI) of 10,059 individuals. The PHI included names, dates of birth, addresses, social security numbers, phone numbers, drivers’ license numbers, health insurance information, and other treatment information. The CE notified HHS, the affected individuals, and the media. In its mitigation efforts, the CE implemented additional administrative, technical, and security safeguards to better protect its PHI.
