OCR description
The covered entity (CE), Kansas Joint & Spine Specialists, reported that it was the subject of a ransomware attack that affected the protected health information (PHI) of 83,869 individuals. The PHI involved included names, addresses, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, drivers’ license numbers, financial and claims information, diagnoses/conditions, and other treatment information. The CE notified HHS, affected individuals, the media, and posted substitute notice on its website. In response to the breach, the CE implemented additional administrative, technical, and security safeguards.
