OCR description
Redwood Coast Regional Center, the covered entity (CE), reported that emails that contained the protected health information (PHI) of 1,345 individuals were sent without encryption during a network outage. The PHI involved included names, addresses, dates of birth, and other identifiers. The CE notified HHS, affected individuals, and the media. In its mitigation efforts, the CE revised its policies and procedures, retrained its workforce members, and implemented additional technical safeguards.
