OCR description
The business associate (BA), PCC Pediatric EHR Solutions, reported that an employee accidently emailed the protected health information (PHI) of 520 individuals to an unauthorized recipient. The PHI involved included names, Social Security numbers, addresses, drivers’ license numbers, dates of birth, and claims information. The BA notified HHS and affected individuals. In response to the breach, the BA implemented additional administrative safeguards and retrained its employees. OCR provided the BA with technical assistance regarding its HIPAA Breach Notification Rule requirements.
