OCR description
Dakota Eye Institute, the covered entity (CE), reported that it experienced a ransomware attack that compromised the protected health information (PHI) of 107,143 individuals. The PHI involved included names, addresses, dates of birth, drivers’ license information, diagnoses, medications, and other treatment information. The CE notified HHS, affected individuals, and the media, as well as implemented additional administrative, technical, and security safeguards to better protect its PHI.
