OCR description
Community Dental reported that it was the target of a ransomware attack that affected the protected health information (PHI) of 1,523 individuals. The PHI involved clinical and demographic information. Following the discovery of the incident, Community Dental notified HHS, the affected individuals and the media. In response to the incident, Community Dental implemented multifactor authentication for all administrative access and deployed endpoint detection and response tools to ensure the incident was contained. It also upgraded its managed security services to include managed patching, enhanced endpoint protection, and replacement of unsupported network equipment.
