ZOLL Medical Corporation

The covered entity (CE), ZOLL Medical Corporation, reported that an employee was the subject of an email phishing scheme that affected the protected health information (PHI) of 8,898 individuals. The PHI involved included names, addresses, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, and medical diagnoses and other clinical information. ZOLL notified HHS, affected individuals, and the media. In its mitigation efforts, the CE implemented additional administrative, technical, and security safeguards to better protect its PHI. Staff were retrained on email security precautions.
