OCR description
The covered entity (CE), Southeastern Orthopaedic Specialists, reported that it was the victim of a ransomware attack affecting the protected health information (PHI) of 35,533 individuals. The PHI involved included names, addresses, dates of birth, and treatment information. The CE notified HHS, affected individuals, and the media. Following the incident, the CE implemented technical safeguards, provided individuals with free credit monitoring, revised policies and procedures, and trained or retrained workforce members.
