OCR description
The covered entity (CE), North Kansas City Hospital, reported that its business associate (BA) experienced a cyber-attack that affected the protected health information (PHI) of 502,438 individuals. The PHI involved included names, dates of birth, addresses, claims information, diagnoses, and other treatment information. The CE notified HHS, affected individuals, and the media. In response to the breach, the CE terminated its business relationship with the BA and implemented additional administrative safeguards to better protect PHI.
