Fincantieri Marine Group, the covered entity (CE), reported that it experienced a cyber-attack that impacted the availability and function of the CE’s network environment and compromised the protected health information (PHI) of 11,535 individuals. The PHI involved included names, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, addresses, claims and financial information, and other identifiers. The CE notified HHS, affected individuals, the media, and posted substitute notice on its website. In its mitigation efforts, the CE began migration of certain services and systems to a secure cloud environment and deployed other technical security measures to enhance security.
