OCR description
The covered entity (CE), Dedicated Physicians Group of Texas dba Dedicated Senior Medical Center, reported that an echocardiogram machine containing the protected health information (PHI) of 3,441 individuals was stolen from an employee’s vehicle. The CE notified HHS, affected individuals, and the media. In its mitigation efforts, the CE implemented additional technical safeguards to better protect sensitive data. OCR provided technical assistance regarding the HIPAA Rules.
