OCR description
The covered entity (CE), Jackson Medical Center, reported that it experienced a ransomware incident that affected the protected health information (PHI) of 16,892 individuals. The PHI involved included first and last names, addresses, dates of birth, drivers’ license numbers, Social Security numbers, diagnoses/conditions, and other treatment information and health insurance information. The CE notified HHS, affected individuals, and the media. In response to the breach, the CE offered free credit monitoring to affected individuals and implemented additional administrative, technical, and security safeguards.
