OCR description
The business associate (BA), LivaNova USA, reported that it experienced a ransomware incident that affected the protected health information (PHI) of 129,031 individuals. The PHI involved included names, addresses, dates of birth, social security numbers, claims information, diagnoses/conditions, lab results, medications, and other treatment information. The BA notified HHS and affected covered entities. In response to the breach, the BA implemented additional administrative, technical, and security safeguards. OCR provided technical assistance to the BA The HIPAA Security Rule.
