WebTPA Employer Services, LLC (“WebTPA”)

The business associate (BA), WebTPA Employer Services, LLC, reported that an unauthorized individual gained access to its system through a VPN connection. This incident affected the electronic protected health information (ePHI) of 2,518,533 individuals. The ePHI involved included names, addresses, dates of birth, and social security numbers. The BA notified HHS, the affected covered entities, the affected individuals, and the media. In response to the breach, the BA implemented additional system monitoring safeguards and additional technical safeguards.
