OCR description
The business associate (BA), Patented Acquisition Corporation, reported that it experienced a cyberattack that compromised the protected health information (PHI) of 12,787 individuals. The PHI involved names, addresses, and other identifiers. The BA notified HHS, affected individuals, and the media. In its mitigation efforts, the BA provided security awareness training to its workforce, conducted a risk analysis, and enhanced its access controls to better protect PHI. OCR provided technical assistance to the BA regarding the HIPAA Rules.
