Goodwin Living Incorporated

Goodwin Living Incorporated, the covered entity (CE), reported that an employee was the target of an email phishing scheme that affected the protected health information (PHI) of 7,170 individuals. The PHI involved included names, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, dates of birth, Social Security and drivers’ license numbers, financial and health insurance information, diagnoses, medications, and other treatment information. The CE notified HHS, affected individuals, and the media. In its mitigation efforts, the CE implemented additional administrative, technical, and security safeguards to better protect its sensitive data. Staff were retrained on email security.
