OCR description
The covered entity (CE), Washoe County School District, reported that its business associate (BA) experienced a ransomware attack that compromised the protected health information (PHI) of 1,017 individuals. The PHI involved included addresses, birth dates, social security numbers, and financial information. The CE notified HHS while the BA notified the media and the affected individuals. In its mitigation efforts, the CE and BA implemented additional administrative and technical safeguards.
