OCR description
The covered entity (CE), ERLC dba Elitecare Emergency Hospital, reported that it experienced a ransomware incident that affected the protected health information (PHI) of 24,754 individuals. The PHI involved included names, dates of birth, addresses, drivers’ license numbers, social security numbers, and financial information. The CE notified HHS, affected individuals, and the media. In response to the breach, the CE implemented additional administrative, technical, and security safeguards. Staff were also retrained in its requirements to protect and secure PHI.
