OCR description
The covered entity (CE), Gardner Orthopedics LLC, reported that it was the subject of a ransomware attack that affected the protected health information (PHI) of 47,000 individuals. The PHI involved included clinical, demographic, and financial information. The CE notified HHS, the affected individuals, and the media. In response to the breach, the CE implemented additional administrative, technical, and security safeguards, and retrained workforce members to better protect its PHI.
