CVE-2024-1086Use-after-free in Linux kernel's netfilter: nf_tables component

Updated under an hour ago ()

Does this affect you?

It affects Linux Kernel and 18 other products. Add what you run to find out whether that includes you.

CISA lists it as known exploited since May 30, 2024; federal agencies had to remediate by Jun 20, 2024, and it is known to be used in ransomware. Treat that date as your deadline.

A use-after-free vulnerability in the Linux kernel's netfilter: nf_tables component can be exploited to achieve local privilege escalation. The nft_verdict_init() function allows positive values as drop error within the hook verdict, and hence the nf_hook_slow() function can cause a double free vulnerability when NF_DROP is issued with a drop error which resembles NF_ACCEPT. We recommend upgrading past commit f342de4e2f33e0e39165d8639387aa6c19dff660.

The CVE record is authoritative. Products marked “from the name” were identified from the CNA's free-text names, not a CPE, and are matched less certainly. This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.
