CVE-2021-21315Command Injection Vulnerability

Updated under an hour ago ()

Does this affect you?

It affects sebhildebrandt systeminformation and 2 other products. Add what you run to find out whether that includes you.

CISA lists it as known exploited since Jan 18, 2022; federal agencies had to remediate by Feb 1, 2022. Treat that date as your deadline.

The System Information Library for Node.JS (npm package "systeminformation") is an open source collection of functions to retrieve detailed hardware, system and OS information. In systeminformation before version 5.3.1 there is a command injection vulnerability. Problem was fixed in version 5.3.1. As a workaround instead of upgrading, be sure to check or sanitize service parameters that are passed to si.inetLatency(), si.inetChecksite(), si.services(), si.processLoad() ... do only allow strings, reject any arrays. String sanitation works as expected.

The CVE record is authoritative. Products marked “from the name” were identified from the CNA's free-text names, not a CPE, and are matched less certainly. This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.
